Yesterday, I attended day one of the Web 3.0 conference with Alisa Hansen. For the past few days, when I told people about this event, they asked, “what is Web 3.0?” I simply replied, “I’m not sure exactly, but I figured it was good to stay one step ahead of those who were still figuring out how to engage in Web 2.0 today.”
Seriously though, I found it very engaging, especially for a data geek like me. In a nutshell Web 3.0 = the semantic Web.
Web 1.0 was all about brands just getting online to have some kind of Internet presence. And Web 2.0 is about the social or participatory web and all that great UGC. That brings us to Web 3.0. All that UGC is unstructured and siloed. Web 3.0 is the promise of building technologies, along with the collective wisdom from the crowd, to make sense of all that data to simplify our lives.
