According to a new article out of the company, “Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, has signed an agreement with EPSRC to provide them with access to SciVal Spotlight, SciVal Strata, and Scopus. EPSRC will use these products and tools to support evaluation of the impact of UK research in engineering and the physical sciences. EPSRC is one of the largest UK research councils and a member of Research Councils UK (RCUK). The decision by the organization to use these products and tools is based on the comprehensiveness of the data and the additional insights available through looking at research from the unique perspective of SciVal Spotlight competencies, as well as the traditional journal classification system.”

The article continues, “The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is the UK’s main agency for funding research in engineering and the physical sciences. EPSRC invests around £800 million a year in research and postgraduate training, to help the nation handle the next generation of technological change. The areas covered range from information technology to structural engineering, and mathematics to materials science. This research forms the basis for future economic development in the UK and improvements for everyone’s health, lifestyle and culture. EPSRC works alongside other Research Councils with responsibility for other areas of research. The Research Councils work collectively on issues of common concern via Research Councils UK.”
