POWDER Is a W3C Recommendation

W3C

POWDER, the Protocol for Web Description Resources, is the latest Semantic Web technology to reach W3C Recommendation status.

Taking a Semantic Web/linked data view, POWDER allows you to associate predicates and objects with multiple subjects, all with explicit provenance. Data is usually encoded in XML with an associated GRDDL transform that generates an OWL ontology.

A Semantic Extension allows resources to be considered as instances of a class based on their URI. It’s designed to make it easy to create metadata about resources that are arranged in directory trees but the output of POWDER Processors is always regular RDF triples that can be used in any SW environment.
