Qualifications for the position include: “Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a Master’s degree with three years of related experience; at least one year of experience performing an analytical function using machine-learning, text-mining or natural language processing techniques; at least one year of experience mining large data sets; at least one year of experience performing research using R, SQL, or other data mining tools; proven record of applying algorithmic solutions to real-world applications, preferably in data-rich fields such as e-commerce, bioinformatics, or finance; experience in innovative data visualization; experience with Java or C++ and scripting languages such as Python or PHP; experience with hadoop not required, but definitely a plus; experience mentoring and training the research and engineering communities on complex data issues; sharp analytical abilities and strong communication skills.”
