According to the post, “The RDI organization is seeking outstanding candidates to develop and implement algorithms and software for the management and exploitation of biomedical data to advance drug R&D. Working at the interface of cutting-edge science and biomedical data science, the candidate should have skills in both algorithm development as well as software development with a background or interest in biomedical research. The candidate would work with a highly multi-disciplinary staff to design, investigate and evaluate competing algorithm solutions, lead the software and algorithm development, and effectively communicate the results for internal audiences, as well as for publication. The candidate should be motivated to work with minimal supervision and be able to independently identify creative solutions to obstacles.”

Qualifications for the position include: “Computer Science background including OO fundamentals and design patterns; you know ‘why’ things are, not just ‘what’ they are. Solid skills in Java EE, Spring Framework, JavaScript, JSON, HTML, XML, SQL. Interactive data visualization for the web using tools such as D3.js, HTML5, SVG et al. Integration technologies (e.g. SOA, REST, ETL). Experience in the following technical areas is preferred: Semantics/Linked Data (RDF, SPARQL, OWL); Advanced knowledge of Javascript frameworks including JQuery, AngularJS; Database development including NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB); Search (Lucene, Solr) and Taxonomy.”
