Semantic Web Jobs: IBM

IBM is looking for an Academic Visitor at the Watson Institute in Hawthorne, NY. According to the post, “The ‘Watson Institute’ program is looking for scientists and educators interested in learning the details of how Watson’s DeepQA technology works for the purposes of teaching it as well as for collaboration with our group. Academic Visitors will come for durations anywhere from 1-6 months in the period from January to September, 2012. We are specifically looking for scientists at the post-doc or faculty level who have expertise in the Natural Language Processing (NLP) areas of event and time processing, co-reference, and large scale knowledge extraction.”

It continues, “Preference will be given to individuals having experience with specific NLP technologies such as parsing, predicate argument structure, statistical modeling, tree kernels; semantic web technologies such as RDF, SPARQL, and linked open data; and machine learning technologies such as linear regression and Bayesian modeling.” Requirements include at least five years of experience in natural language processing and a minimum of intermediate level English. Preferred qualifications include a doctorate in Information Technology and fluency in English.
