The Institute for Systems Biology is looking for a Software Engineer with graph database experience in Seattle, WA. According to the post, “The successful candidate will join a diverse group of researchers that include computational biologists, clinicians, doctors and engineers. The Software Engineer will be part of a software team that is designing systems comprised of collaborative web apps, interactive visualizations, and data warehouses holding clinical and genomic data types from tens of thousands of patients. Candidates must be very comfortable working in a team environment, and possess strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work independently with a high level of initiative are required.”

 

Qualifications for the position include: “Experience with database modeling concepts, enterprise management systems, document and graph databases (MongoDB, Postgre, SOLR, Neo4J, MySQL, RDF). Proficiency in Python (2.7) and scripting for unix-based operating systems (preferably Linux). Experience working in cloud environments, such as AWS and GCE. Experience with standard software practices, such as maintaining code in distributed source code repositories, designing APIs, writing documentation, and providing basic support for users. Working with large-scale genomic data. Working with data within a scientific research environment, specifically genomic data. Proficiency in other programming languages, such as Matlab, R, Perl, C, C++, Java, Go Lang. Proficiency with REST APIs, JSON, JavaScript and HTML5.”
