Northern Illinois University is searching for a Digital Repository Developer in DeKalb, IL. This position is “Responsible for the research, development, and ongoing maintenance of the Fedora Commons digital repository and digital collections websites, running in Drupal with the Islandora module. The Digital Repository Developer works with the Digital Collections Curator to plan and design new websites and uses new web service technologies to improve the user experience in discovering, finding, or acquiring library content.”

Qualifications include: “Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND 3 years professional experience in the following areas: building websites; using web standards: HTML, CSS, XML; programming experience with PHP and/or Java and JavaScript; creating and maintaining of MySQL databases; basic web server experience (Apache, Tomcat, Linux/Unix); experience with a scripting language, such as Perl, Python, or Ruby and 1 year experience with Drupal web content management system OR 5 years of experience as listed above. Knowledge of data transformation techniques utilizing XSLT or custom programming. Knowledge of or direct experience with Fedora Commons and/or DSpace. Experience working with APIs, RESTful web services, JSON, and/or AJAX. Facility with and enthusiasm for open source software. Awareness of metadata schemes used in library environment. Experience working with Apache SOLR/Lucene full-text search platform. Knowledge of semantic web technologies and web ontology languages (RDF and/or OWL). Excellent sense of visual design, graphic production, and information architecture. Supervisory experience.”
