The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research is looking for a Library Analytics & Repository Engineer in Boulder, CO. The post states, “This position will lead the NCAR Library’s efforts in developing and implementing systems for collecting and analyzing data around the science and scholarship of the organization. The individual will be responsible for the implementation of technical approaches to demonstrate NCAR/UCAR’s impact and place in the atmospheric science research community network. This position will work with other divisions, labs, and metrics groups in the organization to identify data that can be associated with information the Library currently maintains in its Institutional Repository and other databases.  The position will also provide design and development direction to the Library’s Institutional Repository project, OpenSky, to better support the metrics/analytics efforts.”

Qualifications for the position include: “Three years’ experience with data mining, analytics or bibliometrics. Data modeling in XML and RDF, use of ontologies and OWL. Data mining approaches using machine learning and other statistical methods, e.g. SVM. Software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Linux server environments, Linux command-line tools, and scripting. Java Web applications, Servlets, and Apache Tomcat, XML, XPath, XML Schema. SQL databases (preferably MySQL) including reading and writing data and defining SQL schemas. Web services including REST/RPC and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Web interface design and implementation. JavaScript, and Javascript frameworks such as jQuery and prototype, JSON. Working with open source software packages, products, and code libraries.”
