BREAKING: Semantic Technology & Business Conference Europe Changes Dates

Semantic Technology & Business Conference - Europe - Date updated: February, 2014Almost as soon as we announced the dates for our New York and European Semantic Technology & Business Conferences, we began hearing from members of the community that they would prefer to have more space between the two events.

We heard you and we have taken action! We are moving the Semantic Technology & Business Conference – Europe, to February of 2014, and the event will still take place in Berlin. We are finalizing details with the conference venue and will have more specifics to announce soon.

Those who have already registered, submitted speaking proposals, or signed up for sponsorship of the European event will receive separate communications specific to those discussions next week, and we will look forward to seeing you in New York October 2-3, 2013 and Berlin early next year!

Your Face Here?This fall, we will offer two events in the popular Semantic Technology & Business Conference series (#SemTechBiz).

Eric Franzon, Conference Chair, says, “We have received many excellent proposals for both the European  (Berlin, 18-19 September) and the New York (October 1-3) events. Perhaps due to Summer holidays, we have also received more requests than usual for deadline extensions. As a result, we are re-opening the CFP process and will now accept submissions for both events until end of day, Monday, July 22.”

Sponsorship opportunities and registration options are also available at this time. Details for each event are below.

CFPs Open for European and New York Semantic Technology & Business Conferences

Your Face Here?The Call For Presentations process has begun for two events in the Semantic Technology & Business Conference series.

The European event will take place in Berlin, September 18-19, 2013, and will include two days of breakout sessions, keynotes, panels, lightning talks, and networking opportunities.

In New York, October 1-3, 2013, the conference includes all of the above and also offers half-day, in-depth tutorials as an opportunity for in-depth learning.

Both events will have sponsored sessions and an exhibit floor where attendees can catch up on the latest Semantic Technology tools and services.

Amazon Turns to Germany for Cloud & Machine Learning Engineers

David Meyer of GigaOM reports, “Amazon has announced the launch of a new development center for cloud technologies in Germany, with locations in both Berlin and Dresden. According to a statement from the company, the 70-plus engineers that Amazon will hire will work on technologies for supporting various hypervisors, management tools and operating systems. This is effectively a major expansion of the development team Amazon has already had in Germany since buying Berlin-based Peritor last year – a purchase that led to the release of the OpsWorks devops toolkit this February.” Read more

Confernce Hotel Berlin This very cold day in Berlin finds me in the large glass emporium known as the Seminaris CampusHotel Berlin, built on the campus of the Freie Universität Berlin.  I am here with an expected 150 delegates, 50 plus speakers, and 6 exhibitors for the first Semantic Tech & Business Conference in Berlin.  Hopefully I can over the next few paragraphs give you a feel for some of what I experienced on day one.  Obviously with a twin track program I could only experience part of the day, but here we go anyway….
