Nuance Sees Major Growth in First Quarter of 2013

According to a new release out of the company, “Nuance Communications, Inc. today announced financial results for its first quarter fiscal 2013, ended December 31, 2012. Nuance reported GAAP revenue of $462.3 million in the first quarter fiscal 2013, a 28.2% increase over GAAP revenue of $360.6 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2012. Nuance reported non-GAAP revenue of $492.4 million, which includes $30.1 million in revenue lost to accounting treatment in conjunction with acquisitions. First quarter fiscal 2013 non-GAAP revenue grew 28.9% over non-GAAP revenue of $382.0 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2012.” Read more

Concept Searching Increases Revenue by 53%

According to a new article out of the company, “Concept Searching, a global leader in semantic metadata generation, auto-classification, and taxonomy management software, and developer of the Smart Content Framework™, is pleased to announce that in 2012 it achieved fourth quarter revenue growth of 82 percent over the previous year’s corresponding quarter, and 53 percent revenue growth for the full year, while maintaining for a fourth successive year an operating margin of at least 63 percent. Since 2006 Concept Searching has sustained an average 50 percent revenue growth year on year.” Read more

Highlights from the Semantic Web Media Summit

The Semantic Web Media Summit on September 14 in New York was a great success, a recent article reports. This review of the event covers several sessions including Michael Dunn’s keynote and Mike Petit’s “call to action.” According to the article, Petit noted that “(1) The Semantic Web and its associated technology have become tangible and effective tools for publishers, and (2) Social media have complicated the publishing model and have become indispensable.” Read more

Open Data Challenge a Great Success

GovLoop recently reported the results of the Open Data Challenge 2011 and commented on the importance of such events. According to the article, “The Open Data Challenge 2011 was the largest ever open data competition in Europe, in which there was a large cash prize. Over 430 participants from 24 EU Member States attempting to create the most interactive and influential apps using public sector information to reinvent the way we govern and live in our community.
