The University of Maryland Libraries is looking for a Metadata Librarian in Baltimore, MD. The post states, “Under the direction of the Head of Metadata Services, the Metadata Librarian implements, and supports metadata strategies associated with digital initiatives and projects. The incumbent may lead projects or serve as a member of a project team, providing metadata expertise. The Metadata Librarian collaborates with colleagues in Digital Systems and Stewardship and Special Collections and University Archives to evaluate the effectiveness of metadata for resource discovery and access. The incumbent recommends metadata schemas and develops workflows for metadata creation for collections to be digitized. Designs and provides documentation, training and consultation on creation and application of metadata to faculty and staff within Metadata Services and throughout the UMD Libraries.” Read more

“We still are clearly at the nascent level regarding text and sentiment analytics,” said David Rabjohns, CEO of social intelligence company MotiveQuest, speaking at yesterday’s Sentiment Analysis Symposium, the event organized by Seth Grimes’ Alta Plana Corp. “There are much higher levels of emotional depth still to be mined.”
