The Best Intranets, Up Close and Personal

One of the constant difficulties faced by intranet managers and teams globally is getting to see other intranets (particularly the best ones that exist) up “close and personal”. This problem does not exist for Internet Managers as everything is in the public domain.
What this does mean is that when you get to see what other intranets look like and how they operate, it is an endlessly fascinating experience. To address this specific challenge my colleagues at the Intranet Benchmarking Forum (IBF) launched an intranet “media channel” in November 2008 to bring the world’s best intranets live to intranet teams every month, wherever they are.
So on the first Tuesday of each month at 1500 GMT (1000 EDT) (0700 PDT) Intranets Live broadcasts live for two hours to a worldwide audience of 500 people and growing, with live tours that have included Shell, BBC, BT, Nokia, Capital One, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Nissan and Kellogg’s. What people love is the ease with which they can delve into the sites while sitting at their own desks in offices or at home globally. Many teams book meeting rooms and turn it into a “mini conference” without the hassle and cost of travel and with far better live content.
