Web 2.0 Becomes One Millionth Word; Just As We Stop Using It

Words from the tech vernacular finding their way into common language – and ultimately the dictionary – isn’t a new phenomenon. “Blog” was Merriam-Webster’s “word of the year” in 2004, while more recent additions to the dictionary include “Facebook reviews ” and “Meh.”
Usually, these moves are timely publicity stunts of sorts by dictionary makers. However, the move today by a group called The Global Language Monitor to make “Web 2.0″ the one millionth word in the English language is a bit puzzling, considering that term seems to have run its course.
